From 10 to 14 June 2025, the city of Stavanger, Norway, hosted the 2nd Olympiad in Engineering Science (OES 2025) — an event dedicated to cutting-edge engineering research across disciplines.

As part of the technical programme, Konstantinos T. Fotopoulos and George N. Lampeas delivered a presentation on behalf of the H2ELIOS consortium titled:
“A numerical methodology for predicting damage in composite cryogenic hydrogen storage tanks.”

This contribution showcased advanced simulation techniques being used within H2ELIOS to predict damage and improve reliability in composite tank structures operating under cryogenic conditions. The work supports the project’s broader objectives of developing safe, certifiable, and lightweight LH₂ storage systems for next-generation aircraft.

Participation in events like OES strengthens the exchange of knowledge within the scientific community and reinforces the project's role in shaping the future of sustainable aviation.
