CTTC UPC

The Heat and Mass Transfer Technological Centre (CTTC) is a Research Centre of the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC),which focuses its research work on two main lines:

  • The first line is oriented to the mathematical formulation, numerical resolution and experimental validation of fluid dynamics and heat transfer phenomena, specially oriented to turbulence and multiphase flow modeling, but also extended to a multi-physics perspective (radiation, combustion, etc.). Special attention is given to Computational Fluid Dynamics and Heat Transfer (CFD&HT) codes and related High-Performance Computing (HPC) issues.
  • The second investigation line focuses on the thermal and fluid dynamic optimization of thermal systems and equipment (Heat Exchangers, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC&R) systems, Heat storage (sensible and Phase Change Material PCM latent heat), etc. CTTC-UPC has notable experience in proposing or analyzing simplified thermal models and correlations aimed at describing a thermal system through low-cost parametric studies.

CTTC-UPC has a staff of 30 persons between professors, researchers and Ph.D. students. CTTC-UPC has a spin-off technology company named Termo Fluids S.L., specialized in CFD&HT simulations and thermal/numerical consulting.
