We are excited to report that H2ELIOS project partners from UPAT, PVS, FRAU, and UPC-CTC successfully presented their pioneering research at the 14th EASN (European Aeronautics Science Network) Conference, held in Thessaloniki, Greece from October 8-11, 2024. This event brought together leading experts in aeronautics and sustainable technologies, providing a platform for our team to showcase cutting-edge advancements in hydrogen storage solutions for aviation.

Key Presentations:

  • Towards the development of hydrogen tanks for the aviation sector – This presentation explored innovative approaches to designing hydrogen tanks that meet the stringent demands of the aviation sector.
  • Thermomechanical behaviour of cryogenic composite structures – Focused on the performance of composite materials at cryogenic temperatures, a critical factor in hydrogen storage.
  • Permeation behaviour of thermoset and thermoplastic CFRP materials for LH2 tank solutions, thermally shocked to and mechanically aged at cryogenic temperatures – Highlighted the durability and performance of composite materials under extreme conditions.
  • Thermal Digital Twin of a LH2 Aircraft Storage Tank – This poster presentation introduced a new digital twin technology for monitoring the thermal performance of hydrogen storage tanks.

The conference was an invaluable opportunity for the H2ELIOS team to engage with the scientific community and share insights on how hydrogen can drive the future of sustainable aviation. We are proud of the contributions made by our partners and look forward to continuing our work toward achieving zero-emission aviation.
