The H2ELIOS project recently participated in the 12th International Conference on Life Cycle Management (LCM 2025) held in Palermo, Italy — one of the leading global events focusing on sustainable industrial practices and life cycle methodologies.

Representing H2ELIOS partner NTNU, Andrea Pettersen Helåsen presented a study titled: “Life cycle assessment of current and novel insulation materials for hydrogen tank in aircrafts.”

The presentation focused on the environmental impact of different insulation materials used in cryogenic hydrogen tanks for aviation. Through a comparative life cycle analysis, the work evaluates how traditional and innovative materials influence the sustainability performance of hydrogen storage solutions — from production to end-of-life.

This contribution adds to the growing body of knowledge ensuring that emerging aviation technologies are not only high-performing but also aligned with long-term environmental goals.
