The H2ELIOS project is featured in the third 2025 issue of the European Aeronautics Science Network (EASN) newsletter. The article consolidates recent research outputs and technical presentations delivered by consortium partners across Europe.

Key Technical Updates

The feature focuses on four primary areas of recent progress:

  1. Insulation Optimization: At EUCASS 2025 in Rome, researchers from UPC–CTTC presented data on "Dual-Foam Insulated H₂ Cryogenic Tanks," analyzing the trade-offs between thermal performance and weight reduction.
  2. Life Cycle Management: During the LCM 2025 conference in Palermo, NTNU presented a comparative life-cycle assessment (LCA) of traditional versus novel insulation materials, emphasizing the environmental footprint of manufacturing and end-of-life phases.
  3. Structural Health Monitoring (SHM): The newsletter highlights a new publication regarding the use of optical fiber sensors. This technology aims to detect stress and ensure integrity in composite tanks operating in cryogenic environments.
  4. Material Testing: Updates from the EASN 2025 Conference in Madrid cover the latest validation tests for hydrogen storage solutions led by Fraunhofer ENAS, University of Patras, and NTNU.
