Professional Background

  1. Briefly describe your professional background and area of expertise:

    I previously worked as industry product development engineer, and I now work as research engineer, also involved with laboratory work.

  2. What inspired you to pursue a career in this related field, e.g., aviation, carbon-free emissions etc?

    In my life, I was always intrigued by the aviation industry and following my education as a materials engineer, I found sustainable aviation to be the best goal to pursue.

Role in H2ELIOS

  1. What is your role in the H2ELIOS project?

    PVS, as OEM, is involved in H2ELIOS requirements definition, material testing and dissemination and communication activities.

  2. Can you describe your main responsibilities and tasks?

    I was responsible for the material testing campaign as well as for permeability testing.

  3. How does your work contribute to the overall goals of the H2ELIOS project?

    Hydrogen safety-related considerations of LH2 storage solutions are of paramount importance, and permeability studies allow to gather information to derisk safety issues.

  1. What do you find most exciting about working on the H2ELIOS project?

    It’s exciting to see how the world of aviation is pushing the boundaries of hydrogen research, engineering and safety for the goal of a sustainable aviation.

  2. What has been the most challenging aspect of your work on this project?

    Managing the interdependency of supply chain and project deadlines was definitely the most challenging aspect of the work performed.

  3. Can you share a significant milestone or achievement your team has reached so far?

    The material testing campaign has been concluded and it was possible to find recommendations directed towards the best chance of success for H2ELIOS project.

Personal Experience

  1. What have you learned during your time working on H2ELIOS?

    I learned how good, organized and planned interaction between partners is fundamental to carry on difficult tasks. I was also able to refine my planning skills.

  2. How has this project influenced your professional development?:

    Working for H2ELIOS I developed a deep appreciation for cryogenic research and engineering, something I will definitely keep in mind in the future!

  1. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

    In my free time, I like to go for a stroll along the sea-side in Trieste, the city where I currently live, read books or play some chess.

  2. 15. Share a fun fact about yourself that your colleagues might not know:

    I played the trumpet in a big band for about 11 to 24 years old.
